    peg mounts

    So, my cafe bike, needs rearset pegs, but I wanted something bigger, and with some more bite than the usual sportbike pegs, so I got some crf450r pegs from egay and figured I'd build some mount brackets, so here is the finished product in billet... now I just gotta pick a spot on the bike and drill n tap for a m8 screw. Will post a pic of it installed sometime...




    So let me know what u think...
    I think I will also drill and pin them to avoid the bracket pivoting, but that won't be hard. I don't plan to move them much further back/up from stock, just enough to suit my taste...

    They look really good, and of course I'd like to see them on the bike to really see what you had envisioned for the "look" you were going for. It's really cool the number of guys going for the cafe look on the xs bikes.
    Even a blind monkey gets the odd banana.

      Thanks man, the wife likes to ride with me so I'm gonna retain the factory alloy passenger mounts, and just mount these to it. Probably 2" back and 1" up from where the stock special pegs sat... I'm thinking covering the swingarm pivot with my heel while riding... not 100% set though yet. I have an idea in mind for a shifter/brake linkage for each side too. Something simple, I got the idea from a chopper buddy of mine, but put a little of my own spin on it.

        It's cool that you a your wife go out on the bike together, my wife is the same way. I have a GS1000 now as well and she's getting good at the passenger feed back like if the pegs are too buzzy and cause the feet to fall asleep or how the front and rear tire are mismatched tread and it causes the bike to handle different. I'm trying to work up to her having her own bike but at least she's honest with me and has said that it will be a while yet before she wants her own bike. On another note I will likely look into copying your mod to the rear pegs because an unfortunate down pour of rain on brand new pavement left me dirt tracking until low siding and it resulted in a broken off rear foot peg on the right side.

          For optimum control, don't the pegs need to be as close to the swingarm pivot as possible? I've heard that. Is it possible to do while retaining the passenger pegs?

            I'm going to keep the passenger pegs in the stock place. Or at least try to. I'll post a pic once I get them on the bike.
