Put the right oil in it for sure. Regular cage oil will most definitly cause a slip. Did it work right when you first took off?

As for jetting, post what you have and what type of intake and exhaust you are running. In most cases rejetting is unecessary and will cause a whole new set of ridability problems

        Not holding or not releasing?

Recheck your adjustments according to the manual. You do have one right?

On the lever on the engine you see the locknut and the stud with the phillips head?

First, make sure the lever the cable hooks to isn't broken or stripped where it goes on the throwout stud. It has 2 flats in the hole that need to be gripping the stud on it's matching flats.

Loosen the locknut with a 12mm wrench and hold it while you turn the stud in (right) until you just barely feel it contact the throwout. Then back it out 1/4 turn (I think) and retighten the locknut without moving the stud.

You don't need to drain the oil. If you put it on the sidestand it will lean over far enough that very little oil if any will leak out when you pull the clutch cover.

?? So after the New Clutch and Cable on the 1st test ride it never got out of 1st gear?? Sure the Spring Washer and Lock Washer were installed properly on the main shaft? Clutch holding nut torqued to 50.6 ft lbs? Just a thought since it appears your automatic shifting started 150 feet into the 1st test ride.

OK, Sorry BA, but I gotta call BS on the cage oil causing slippage. I wil not say it is a bad idea to use motorcycle specific oil, however I will say that the regular automotive oil will NOT cause slippage of your clutch. It is all I ever use in my bikes, my clutches do not slip. Using synthetic oil may cause slippage, good ole "dino" cage oil is just fine.

Are you sure it is self shifting? If you have the dreaded 1st gear issue it will feel like it is changing gears, as in it will pop in and out of gear, but same speed for the same RPM. If it is shifting up on you then the speed will be different for the same RPM.

I have no idea what in the world would or even could cause the bike to self shift. Maybe if the "bolt" that goes into the detent to lock the shift drum in place is missing or boken. But even then, I would not expect it to just keep shifting as much as slip when trying to shift into a new gear.
