  • Rod's Xs1100 cafe/bobber build

    Hi everyone,

New to bikes in general, My name is Rod and i've been a gear head with engine modifications in cars for years and just recently got into bikes. I work as a machinist/fabricator/mechanic full time and tinker with custom stuff on the side for fun. Heres the latest on my bike, just finished the exhaust but this is a project at this time, I also have a cx500 custom.

heres a pic of the exhaust.

I havent seen anything like it so I went with it. Enjoy the pics and have a great day

Interesting. I like it! I too am a machinist/fabricator/plant mechanic. I like your take on the tuning restrictor. Need pics from further away from the bike though and a video of the bike running for the exhaust audio...

So, how do you attach the muffler to that?

Thanks guys. It sounds pretty beefy, I will get a video soon for you.

I made 6'' x 1'' baffles that are in side welded to the ends. Drilled like a plus sign in 4 spots all the way down the baffle are 3/16 holes. seems to work well.

I drilled out the jets to a 130 size and left the pilots alone, fires right up and idles well. My intake boots are beyond shot so if anyone has a good set let me know and I will be more then happy to get them from you.

Thanks again for the kind comments, ill take some more pics and a video soon.

OK. This is the finished product as I understand it. I hope that the performance works out well. The stock pipes are flattened as they bend around the bottom for clearance. I have had severe scapes with 4-1 Jardines and RC exhaust systems. You might want to check your lean angles gradually to check your clearance.

Do you end up with the exhaust roasting your feet at stoplights, or is it far enough forward to prevent that? Pretty awesome design though, looks wicked.

Yes this is the finished product, its 2.5'' piping underneath and the bike sits at stock suspension height, I have tilted it side to side pretty far and it seems ok. We'll have to see when I test drive it.

The exhaust blows right underneath my foot, its low enough to keep away from when im riding. Just when your at a light I need to move my foot a little out of the way. its not hot though.

UPDATE: Brakes all are flushed, cleaned, and bled with fresh fluids. Woodcraft clipons installed. Ordering headlight mount soon and making a seat
