on my project i have a special tank an a standard bike. i just put gas in the tank for the first time today since i got the tank, and yes leaky petcocks. I am going to rebuild them. i am going to run just one fuel line from each petcock to the carbs. I was wondering since i will have the petcocks apart for the rebuild, is there some way that i can seal up the other fuel line connection from the inside, and maybe just cut off the unused connection. instaed of going the traditional route of plugging it with a piece of fuel line and a bolt or something similar. I thought this might clean up the look without having a fuel line to nowhere. and if you have looked at my build thread you know i like stream lined, simple look. any advice would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Crazy Steve posted a mod on this a while back. He took the petcock apart, and threaded the hole that leads to the prime outlet, he then put a small bolt or set screw in it ( I believe it was a set screw so it went flush) with some thread lock on it.
Honestly, once you have the petcocks rebuilt and get used to turning the petcock between ON and OFF, you could leave the PRIME outlet unpluged as it will never get gas anyway. But, if your going to take the petcocks off and open them up, Steve's fix would be a good idea.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

I agree Steve's modification is a nice fix.
But I do understand that drianing the tank out, and disassembling or removing the petcocks is a bit of work to do during riding season on an otherwise good to go bike. Personally, I still have a couple stubs of fuel line with bolts in them on each petcock. Been there for years, and no issues to date.
Now, should I have a reason to empty the tank I would probably go ahead and put this mod in place.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
