  • Throttle hangs

The throttle on my XS Eleven Special wants to hang after I rev it up to about 3 or 4 thousand rpm. If I shut the bike off and start it again it idles fine. Also, the gears grind when I shift. If I press the clutch while it is in gear or downshift to neutral then the throttle revs back up to 3 or 4 thousand. What could be causing this? Could the gears grinding be due to the high rpms? Thanks for any help.

    Well Where to start

Did you have the gas tank or carbs or throttle cable off! Has it done this since you got it or did it just start? Did you drop the bike ? Was it laid up for a while . Sounds like the carbs need to be syncked or the cables sticking or a clamp is hanging up the throttle down by the carbs. Yes if the bike is idleing at 3 to 4 tho it will grind putting it in gear . Need more info to be more help ..............MITCH

Or the pilot jets could be gummed up. Another thing too look at would be the pilot screws, they may be adjusted too lean.
