  • Tightened cam chain, lost 1&4

Hey fellas. I just finished tightening my cam chain and went for a test ride around the parking lot. I've lost fire in 1 and 4. "Duh, check the pickup coil wires!" Right? Already done that and they are fine. Ill keep troubleshooting it as an electrical problem, but my question is... Do ya think i maybe slipped time a lil' bit? Is it possible that anything i did with regard to the cam chain would cause only 1 and 4 to not fire? Or is this strictly an electrical problem that coincidentally happened right after adjusting my chain?

Losing 1 & 4 indicates an ignition problem. Those two cylinders share a pickup coil, ignition coil, and a circuit in the TCI.

You may have somehow bumped a connector somewhere but it's most likely a coicidence.

If you followed the correct procedure with the CCT adjustment it should be fine. Besides, that would've affected all the cylinders not just 2.

      I doubt

adjusting the cam chain would cause this problem unless you hooked the PU coil wires somehow turning the engine over with a wrench. Check your ignition coils. I know you weren't anywhere near them but murphy's law rules.

Yeah, i figured it was coincidence. Murph's law has been the dominant law regarding my bike lately. every time i fix one thing, another pops up. Oh well... back to troubleshooting. C'mon free fix, Daddys tired of spending cash.
