I know this should be in brakes but it wont let me start a new thread there. I just got my new oring and dust covers for my front brakes. I cleaned the calipers very good and the pistons are stainles ones. Anyway, i was just wonder how hard should it be to push the pistons in? They pushed in a little ways by hand and then i had to take a c-clamp and get them in the rest of the way. I lubed them with brake fluid. Are they supposed to fit that tight. They went in really easy with the c-clamp, i am just wondering if i should have been able to get them in by hand. Thanks.

It depends entirely upon how strong your hands are. Unless you rolled the seal, you're OK. I hope you cleaned well underneath it.

Yeah, i cleaned it really good by hand and with a drimmel with a wire wheel on it. My hands are pretty strong and i couldnt get it. The c-clamp worked easy though. I guess I'll find out if they release here in a little bit.

If you have new o-rings and everything is still within tolerance the fit should be very snug to the point you might not be able to insert the piston by hand. As long as the piston did not bind while going in then you are OK. Remember it is not a large movement part and once the system is right the piston actually moves maybe only a thousandth or so when the brakes are applied and the total movement is only the amount of pad wear over time.

Also just so you kmow, this is where all threads like this get posted. Those sub forums are dedicated for "how to" threads and only the mods can post in those. So when there us a good thread here, it gets moved there.
