I've got Allstate and multiple bikes, but it's $75 a year for liability only, or $77.50 for full coverage with a $250 deduct. Seemed a no-brainer to get the full coverage. They don't have towing or roadside assistance, but I have that through AMA, which covers anything I drive or my kids drive for $45 a year or something like that, plus I get the magazine every month.

I'm 19 and I pay 97 a year for simple liability in OK thru Progressive. Allstate wanted 167 a year. Sounds like I got pretty lucky..

I use Meloche Monnex which is now owned by TD Bank. I believe I pay something like $600/year. You may need to insure a car with them to get bike insurance.

        Hope that helps.

          Bike Values

so i just called Progressive and i updated my policy to full coverage, comp/collision 100 deduct for free. no additional cost unless i wanted to add roadside assistance for $8 yr.
if anyone wants to see what trade in or retail value is on their bikes i found Kelly Blue Book at kbb.com or nada.com
i never would have questioned my coverage without this forum. its great! thanx Cuda 69

Some provinces in Canada supply insurance with the plates. Sask and BC come to mind. Normally they have lower rates than other provinces but they also need extra money for coverage other than PL and PD from what I am led to believe. Fredintoon may have more info as I know he is in Sask.
I do not know how it works in the states but here you use your yearly insurance payment in stages. January and February basically cost nothing. I can insure in the winter and take it off again and lose little or nothing from my refund. I can put insurance on in July and take it off in sept and lose over 40% of the premium that way. It is done on a month by month basis as we can or do not use the bikes during the winter months but we do all or most of our riding during summer.
Does your insurance in the states work similarily or do you have a different system?

                Envious

Geez a hundred bucks a year, I'm envious. Insurance here in Canada is much higher and here in Ontario is the highest of all. I got a call back today and $1060 for full coverage per bike is the best I can get. That is with a 4K replacement value based on current photo's I provided. I just had the bikes appraised today and will find out in a couple days what they think they're worth. I'll go with the lesser amount. With just blue book coverage with PL,PD I was paying $618 each per year.

PL&PD only $735 must pay in full and for the whole 12 months. NO discount for second bike. Medical has been halved from $100,000 last year to $50,00this year for the same premium. Law requires insurance to ride in Ontario.
Mine is higher than Mack due to living close to Toronto.

I will have to check on full coverage here with progressive cause my liability is the same. But good lord WhyTF would our canadian brethen pay for full coverage? Is it required there?

                      insurance

after 1yr of using Progressive, they have got to be the bike insurance around, cause they asked ME what value i wanted to insure it for so i put the highest value that wouldnt change my existing policy cost. anything from $1501 to $2500 only raised the policy $8yr, but i didnt ck any amount higher than that. i was happy with $1500 value cause i originally only had liability.

At least here in Alberta there is no full coverage required. PL and PD is the minimum one must carry. If a bike is financed then the lending company or bank requires full coverage, but not the province.
