Handlebar Swap

Hey, I've seen alot of threads and posts that kind of touch base on this subject but no one has really created a list of acceptable, comfortable, CRUISER STYLE handlebars. Now I understand that any 7/8" bars will work and that goldwing bars tend to be a favorite, but that raises some questions to alot of people;

Which year of goldwing bars will directly swap, without the need to extend the brake line or throttle cable?

Are some years more comfortable than others?

Are there any other bars, such as some Harley bars or Honda cruisers that would be more comfortable?

Remember the goal of this thread is to create a sort of database of replacement handlebars to make your ride more enjoyable. Thanks in advance!

You won't have any Harley bars that fit, as HD has used 1" bars since the 70s....

One issue with calling out specific bars is even those aren't all the same; depending on who made them (OEM or aftermarket) you'll find variations even in a 'Goldwing' or 'GS' type bar. So an important part of this will be where did you get the bars you like and who was the manufacturer?

With that said, I've used the 'Daytona Tour' bars sold by PartsNMore (part # 25-0122) and was happy with the rise/pullback of these. Plenty of room around the tank at full lock, with only a slight 'leaned forward' sitting position for me. Inexpensive at only $20, so a good budget choice IMO...

I have gone to my local bike shop and picked up a set of LTD mfg bars with roughly the same dimensions as the "Goldwing" style. 32" wide, around 14" pullback and IIRC 7-1/2 rise. Got the bars for about $24. Pretty comfortable.

After my last few three hour rides, I am thinking I need to swap out from the stock "rototiller" bars, my wrist are sore by the time I get off the bike.

Anyone done this on the Maxim? I've been looking at parts on ebay and am just about convinced with a little work you could mount traditional style risers on the XJ and then be good to go. Still working in my head how to mount the ignition switch and mod the top triple tree cover. What ever I'd do would have to look sanitary in the end. I don't care for having my hands parallel. Wrinsts don't hurt but still not a fan.
