    T/Signals

    i was thinkin about putting frt t/s on my bike and was trying to figure out the mounting. i previously removed the Windjammer on my 81SH and installed the rectangular headlight from my 78E, that i dont have anymore, and wired t/s sockets in the case for the front but they're internal. heres a pic of what i have.

    The standards signals mounted on the lower triple tree bracket but that wouldn't work with the specials triple tree.

    Special signals mounted on the side of the headlight but the standard headlight reflectors are in the way.

        I'd say to get the proper round headlight and ears, then mount them on the sides of the headlight.

          Greg, the standard lower tree clamp bolts face forward and the turn brackets attach to those. With the Special tree, they're turned 90 degrees....

          I suppose you could build a 'L' bracket to adapt them though...

              Guess I just never noticed that.

              I see that you don't have the front badge mount on the lower part of the tripple tree. Why not get an old mount plate and fab some T/S mounts on it?

                i would much rather have the 80's style round headlight that has the mounts on the sides but havent found one yet. at the time i was happy to make the 78E light to fit just so i could ride. im researching exactly how the diff headlights mount. i found it odd that the older headlight is rectangular and the newer model is round. thanx all!!

                  MikesXS sells the round headlight. Not the ears though...

                    after looking at diff years micro fiche, none show any mounts. im sure i could fab something if i had a variety of parts bikes. i think im going to remove the side deflectors to see if i could mount them there somehow with some stability and use a ground inside the headlight. its worth a shot anyway.

                      Take off the reflector headlight mounts

                      One of the standards I bought had the headlight bucket bolted in with plain old bolts. That left the second set of holes in the ears. Those were reamed out a little & signals mounted there. Didn't even notice it til I was taking it apart. Looked very good. You could then use any aftermarket or swap meet signals you like.
