Changed the oil and filter on my bike and there is no spring or washer, and I know there is suppose to be one in there. 81 xs1100 standard does anyone have any extras they would like to sell? also is it safe to ride without one?

You need part number 90501-18433-00 and 90201-21608-00. They are items 4 and 5 in the link.

In a pinch you could probably use a spring from a flashlight. Washers...they are out there.Skids (Sid Hansen)

Double check the old filter. I have heard of times when the spring finds its way into the center of the filter if the washer is not in there correctly.1980 XS850SG - Sold
