  • Broken jets etc.

I am in the process of cleaning up a couple banks of 78/79 carbs and discovered a few brocken off jets and idle mixture screws. I made the little gizmo with the acorn nut and bolt. Man it worked like a charm. What a great idea. As for the jets, I found a number 8 torques can be tapped into the holes and it spins them out slicker than anything i've ever used before. No chance of further stripping at all. Anyone ever blasted the outside of their carbs with crushed walnuts. Glass beading cleans them up and provides a pretty good shine but it also pits them a bit. I was wondering if the walnuts would clean the same but w/o the pitting.

I've never tried it personally, but I understand soda blasting is the way to go on the carbs. That way, any pieces of the media that get stuck in the crevices will dissolve in fuel instantly.
