what do you guys think? is it worth it? I know you can't tell much from pic, but at first glance? My buddy was thinking of getting it. We would probably work on them together and hopefully learn a few things at the same time.

Having sat for ten years, it will need new tires, and all fluids changed. Brake systems cleaned, carbs cleaned, and probably tank cleaned.

Still, it looks to be worth the money being asked. It looks intact and in nice condition. The exhaust looks to be a Kerker 4-1 which is a desirable aftermarket for these machines. I might try to get them down a couple hundred, but I figure it can't hurt to try.

cool, thanks for the input. I figured it was a decent price, but with work needed. I only ask because I got mine for several hundred less. $500 less actually. Was not sure as to the resale value of these. The fact it runs is a plus. Still not sure if mine does. Gonna have to farm my carbs. Little confused, and busy with home projects...

Funny he is not interested in giving his bike away, but he thinks someone with side covers you can not find anymore is going to give them away for $10. More like 10 X $10.

It looks pretty good if that's a current photo and not one taken 10 years ago!
Looks like it has an oil cooler, custom drilled rotors. Those OEM buckhorns will probably need to "GO" if you want to save your wrists. Lots of chrome covers and such, but LOW MILES, like Don said, you can try to get them down a few hundred when you start talking about having to put on new tires, battery, carb cleaning and such....but I think it could still be a fair price.

Looks like a pretty decent buy if you are handy. Lots of work after 10 years will need to be done to it. I would also offer 600 and see what they say. Always worth a lowball offer if you go look at it. They might just take it. There's your new tires!

Looks good to me. 21K miles is very good.

If it has deep engine problems you can probably sell the carbs, exhaust, side covers (buy all you can in Denver for $10), instruments, etc. for enough to cover your investment.

Offer him $750 and see what he says.

I would take the full asking price with me depending on how far a drive. I would take a long hard look at what is there. There are drilled rotors, shiny bits on the parts that suffer during a crash, painted jugs, different exhaust, different seat bar etc. A lot of mods for an apparently low mileage bike in fact (speedo's get changed in crashes too). I would take a long time just inspecting and some time questioning. For every bit you decide needs replacement such as tires, deduct wee bit from his asking price.
Once you have a figure in mind that you can live with, simply say...I know what I am willing to pay, now what is the cheapest you will let it go for. If the two numbers are to far apart just say nope and walk away. Your gut will tell you if you are paying too much. If the numbers are close then you tell him what you have in mind and then haggle over the difference.
If it is worth the full asking price at least you have it in your pocket and you have not wasted a trip or lose getting the bike. I have bought one bike for 1/2 of the original asking price doing it that way. every one has their own idea of how to bargain but letting the seller cut his own throat and knowing what I am willing to pay on the spot has saved me mucho dinero!

Couple of more parts bikes of which 2 more will live!

                            Howdy,

This place sucks, the Liberals have taken over the city, and keep electing bureaucrats that want to makes this place just like New York or LA. Stay there, you know the territory there.
The building codes are outragous here, and the city keeps finding new things to tax, the state makes you register 50 cc scooters, and buy liability insurance on them. THIS PLACE SUCKS. CZ

Why you hating on the buckhorns TC? I love mine. But than again my other ride has clip-on's so the buckhorns are very luxurious compared to them.

I agree with trying to talk them down. Cash talks in this economy
