Have you checked your local bike shop? First one I went to here had what I needed for trade... I think they charged a couple bucks, but for the convenience of getting what I needed in minutes in stead of days, I was happy to pay it.

I went to one of those big multi brand Japanese bike dealers a couple weeks ago. I went to the service department. One of the mechanics GAVE me the shims. I gave him the ones I didn't need. Piece o' cake!

The 29mm shims were used on several different bikes (Kawasaki KZ900/1000 for one), and should be easy to find at a shop. My local shop just trades them rather than sells.

I have all those you need Ken and don't mind trading. However, have you checked with your local Ford dealer? The Ford SHO engine is produced by Yamaha and uses the same size shims but in a greater range of thicknesses.

                  So........these shims I have are worth $185?

I've never checked on the price, I just knew that little tidbit. I think that dealership is not the norm. I've heard from others that they are only a couple bucks each.

                    Hey Greg,
Do the Ford shims come in increments of less than .002 inches? That would be sweet, and you could get the valves closer in timing that way.

That's what I understand CZ. Like I said, I've never checked on them but know that they use the same size.

If that's so you should be able to find a Ford dealer that just want's them out of inventory.

Usually when the car manufacturer stops making a part some after market producer will take up the slack.

In the time it has taken to read this, they could be ordered from www.crc2onlinecatalog.com. About $5.50 per shim and they arrive in just a day or two. I have several in my bike and they work very well.
