  • What are these off of?

I just picked up another a parts bike last week and these are the carbs that were with it. I don't recognise them. They are Mikunis but a bit different from the XS carbs.

They look like late (80-81) carbs but there aren't enough vent holes on the airbox side and there is only one bowl vent, like the two on the early carbs but right in the middle and they have the thick diaphragm caps like the early carbs but the mixture screws are sealed like the late carbs. And, there isn't a choke lever on the side it's set up for a cable.

    What are these off of?

With bowl drains, definitely not 81 or later carbs. Other than that, I'll guess with ya.........
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

Greg, that 'bowl vent' looks like the fuel feed to me, and are the slides missing? Other than that, I don't know any more....

Now that I look at it your right Steve. I was looking at them upside down and thinking that way too.

Still, 1 fuel feed in the center and the other differences I mentioned?

What the heck are these off of?

Whoever had this when it ran had it set up as a bagger. It's an SG but it has a 78 engine (which I was told was locked up but isn't) the number on the case is 2H7-001904. A REAL early one.

Somebody did some work on this thing.

Mikuni sold carbs to all comers, so the only thing that's for sure is these are off an inline 4. But I recall seeing some Suzuki carbs with a single fuel inlet, so maybe something from that family?

I also knew that the gs BS34 had center feed fuel, occasionally wrongly listed as xs carbs on ebay.

Found this and the intake looks the same as yours.Dunno.Maybe ,T in tx

                  hey greg,
they look similar to a set of carbs that
came off 1 of my parts bikes, they were off
a suzuki, the ones i have, have 4 holes in the back
of the carb bell tho, the fuel bowls look the same.
does it have a vac port on the 2nd carb?

                    Greg,
They look very similar to the spare set of carbs I have for my Maxim. The float bowls are a bit different but the ones between the spare set and the set currently on the bike are different too. But the Maxim used a cable controlled choke and a single feed and the intake area is identical.

I was kinda thinkin' that too Gary but don't the XJ carbs have the thin stamped steel cover on the diaphragms?

Ok, they do have the vacuum port on the #2 carb but it sticks straight up rather than coming out at an angle like XS carbs.
