while working on carbs today I left the petcock on prime (about 2hrs) and #1 started leaking, soaked the pod and dripped down onto engine. Did I possibly hurt the starter? Hopefully I did not damage the filter element on the pod. Have it soaking in dishwash liquid now. All the other carbs held up. Did I miss something on my rebuild with #1?

You could also have gas in the oil now, as there are TWO directions the gas can go, out the back of the carb, and out the front into the cylinder and down into the crankcase
. If in doubt, change the oil. Make sure you set the second tab on each of the floats that controls how far they can drop. They only need to drop a very short distance and if they drop too far can cause the needle valve to jam in the seat which can require that you tap the carbs with a hammer handle as the carbs fill, but it WLL happen again if you don't fix the problem, which is possibly the float dropping too far.
