  • First ride reward

finally, a first ride this season. it was 80 degs in Chicago today, so i installed a new rear tire, my newly painted black/icy gold flake gas tank, checked for leaks, installed a battery, checked the oil level, pulled the choke and ................wow!!! my Mutt started on the 1st click of the starter and sounds extremely awesome! i can justly say i got the carbs right. its a great feeling to be rewarded for the perseverance and dedication i put into this bike with the assistance of all on this forum. thanx to all for ur experience and willingness to share it!
another XS11 brought back to life. i was so eager to take her out, i took off without the airbox. the intake sounded soooo good when grabbing a handfull, almost like an old Kaw KZ1000 and she ran great. what music to the ears with the Kerker and no airbox. anyway, i oiled the new UniFilter foam, installed it and took off again. it ran like new ( i could only imagine what that would be like) great throttle response in all positions. this bike is so comfortable, i never want to bring her home. im going to take some pix and post them soon. thanx to all!!!!

        Congrats

Nothing like that sense of accomplishment when they start on the first push of the button. Put some miles on it, then retorque all the headbolts, motor mounts and exhaust flanges. After the motor heats up a few times they can loosen up a bit after a rebuild. Safe riding, the roads still have fine sand on them.
