Picked up a bunch of XS11 parts the other day. Does anyone recognize the tank treatment that has been applied to this tank? PO said it was an epoxy and it's not white enough to be Kreem. Any thoughts?

Kreem can be dissolved with Acetone (Finger nail polish remover). Epoxy can't be dissolved once cured. You could test a small spot to determine if its Kreem. Looks like a Caswell liner to me. Caswell is a really great pour in, and is useful to repair poor Kreem or Por15 jobs, and is tough as nails (ethanol friendly, too). The downside is that it is really thick when poured in at the recommended ratio, and the end result can sometimes look like that, even if the integrity of the liner is ok.
edit* on second thought, it looks cream colored to me. Caswell is pretty much clear with a slight yellow tint.Healthy is merely the slowest rate at which you can die

Yep, I have the Caswell in my tank. After electrolysis cleaning it had pin holes. Very clear, maybe a slight hint of a tint.Originally posted by T99Ford View Post

my brother just used Kreem in his tank and it looks about the same color, i looked at it this morning and it looked alot like that. without the build up.Comment

I don't know what that is, but looks much like the crap that is/was in my husbands tank. Looks like the same guy did both tanks too, quality and workmanship is almost identical! ARGE!!
We have been washing with Acetone for 3 days and about a gallon of acetone later it is still clinging in the tank! Acetone will soften it into a putty like substance but will not remove it from the metal without something rubbing it.1979 XS1100 Special - since 2008

You might want to get it loose and then try electrolysis on it. It might pull the stuff loose and it will clean up any rust under it once it is loose.-- Clint
