    rear master cylinder rebuild

    im stumped, ive searched through the threads, and on google, and I can find pictures of how to rebuild it, but none of them show the little metal washer i received in my kit.

    This is what im looking at...

    79 XS11 special "Loki" - homemade 4-2 exhaust, pod filters, rebuilt forks with progressive springs, tkat fork brace, progressive shocks, rebuilt all brakes and MC's, rebuilt carbs with #142.5 main and #42.5 pilot, a custom front and chin fairing, and a handmade set of saddlebags....

    On the end of the plunger where the seal isn't installed, is there 4/6 little holes drilled through that flange? And do the holes have little 'fingers' covering them? If not, that's where the washer goes; on the plunger before you install the seal. The idea is when you apply the brake, the pressure pushes the washer against the plunger and seals those holes. When you release pressure, that washer can 'float' and allow the fluid to flow through...
