well...darn the badluck.... finished my rebuild project in april of last year, took 5 fullsizeguys to get the monster back outside whereit belonged!10 minutes after he hit the ground on april10th had it fired and running on thecenterstand....only had 1issue all of the ridingseason...a badcrimp on the replaced coils from a fewyearsago lol!anyway in january of this year i had a stroke which left me virtually unableto use my left arm and leg...hence the badluck part.... so i am thinking that if i can lighten thamount of pressure needed to release the clutch i can get back to riding sooner amnd hopefully with more confidance....looking for suggestions on lightening up the clutch....i did install an extra steel and new springs during the rebuild....but still have the old springs....considered putting the old springs back into service as well as removing the extra steel!

What tools do you lack? The turning and drilling of the plate are the toughest part. I am sure with all things considered, someone here would be willing to help you out with the machining work required. I would be using a similar "red neck lathe" myself.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Sorry to hear about your stroke, hope you're able to regain a lot of use thru phys therapy and retraining your brain to rewire the circuits so undamaged parts can take over for the damaged parts!
I'll be happy to help you with the plate portion, would recommend you send the slave MC to me so I could machine and match it up to the plate. I did this for Geezer last year, not sure if he's installed it or not?
However, aside from your left arm strength, I'm concerned about your left leg as well, and the ability to be able to hold the bike up properly and safely!?
Would hate to have you get back to riding, just to drop it/fall over with it and break a leg/hip!
Perhaps you might look into getting those bolt on Trike wheels like I've seen on some Harleys and such, as a temporary safety addition until you get your strength back.
As to the clutch, wondering if you might be able to get a longer lever, would require less strength to pull/compress it, perhaps even just a temporary piece clamped or zip tied onto it to extend it, then just adjust the freeplay so that it won't be so far away from the bars to be able to reach it with your fingers.
Just a few thoughts!

As to falling off the pig, think of installing a sidecar.
A sidecar is cool but those "training wheels" are a passport to Dork City.
What I did to ease my SG's clutch operation was to re-route the cable.
(I haven't added a steel or put stronger springs in the SG's clutch and it works OK, pulling yours would help too)
Take it from it's stock route with all it's tight bends and run it in a single open-air swoop from the lever into the clutch housing.
OK, it don't look neat but it costs nothing and reduces the lever effort by 50%
Cleaning & lubing the cable helps, too.

I mis-quoted, the tech tip calls it a "hillbilly lathe". I substituted redneck for hillbilly.
In the tech tip 81XSProject used a bench grinder to mount his roughly rounded off plate stock onto with a metal file to turn the stock round. a "lathe" if you will.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
