    XJ 1100 battery box re-install

Hi...I'm putting my XJ back together and can't figure out how the battery compartment parts assemble.

My manual shows exploded views of almost everything but that.

Does anyone have a link that shows how the parts go back together?

    Thanks

Just out of curiosity, did your bike have part 29 and 30 on it? Those parts aren't listed, and I have never seen one on any of the XJs that I have seen, and I'm curious to find out if any of those parts actually exist. CZ

I've got part 30 on mine, but the #29 rubber damper that's supposed to go between that and the battery is missing. These are what's supposed to hold the battery in place....

I'm going to be in Maple Valley sometime this summer. Would you mind if I came by and took a look at part 30? I might be able to fabricate a good imitation of it for my XJ.
Right now, I have a piece of stainless steel sheetmetal and a piece of inner tube holding the battery in place. CZ

OK, here's the mysterious part 30 perched on top of the battery tray...

It's not much of a part, you could easily build something to take it's place. For the missing part 29, I'm going to pick up a couple of hardware store rubber bumpers and fasten them to #30 to hold the battery down. You've still got that 'rise' in the bracket and the 'grommet' (missing here) that goes in the hole, part 34. I'll have to look closer when I start putting this bike back together, but it looks like that grommet may stick up and contact the underside of the seat when it's installed to 'stabilise' the battery/tray assembly. That's an educated guess, maybe another XJ owner with all the parts can chime in...
