Hey Sicko,
Yep, standard 2 plug....yes 2 plug thermal flasher will work just fine Provided you have OEM lights/bulbs, can only plug in 1 of 2 ways, will work in one of those positions. If you have mounted aftermarket lights....ie. LEDS then neither the OEM flasher nor the thermal auto one will work, you'll need to spend a few more dollars...~$10.00 vs. $3.00 for an electronic flasher that is NOT load/resistance dependent. This will cause you to loose your self cancelling feature, but there's a way around that as well, CyWelch has posted a wiring mod to retain use of auto-cancel feature with LED signal lights and electronic flasher.
IF OEM lights and cheap flasher still doesn't work, then it's possibly/probably poor grounds as well as corrosion in the power lines for the flasher circuit.

Don't be in a hurry to throw away the stock flasher; that may not be your problem. If the bike still has the OEM turn signals on it (or at least some using 'standard' incandecent lamps), you may just have some poor connections or burned out bulbs. Try unplugging the 'self-cancel' unit first, if that fixes it, then you have a bad canceller or a poor connection in it's plug. If they still don't flash and all lamps are good, then go through and clean every electrical connection in the system, including grounds.Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two
