I am doing a complete restoration of an 80 xs1100 and I need a new wiring harness. Does anyone know where i can find a new old stock wiring harness? I would salvage the old one but many of the wires are melted.

You're going to have to find a good used one. It will be easier than repairing the old harness.

Yeah, you'll never find a new harness at this late date, and if you could it would cost you an arm and a leg...

Typically you'll find melted plugs, and those are replaceable. Try Oregon Motorcycle parts on the web, he's got pretty much any plug you'll need. If the harness truly is trashed beyond repair, look in the 'parts for sale' forum for Andrea Weiss, he's usually got good harnesses available. They are year/model specific to a degree, so make sure you check your VIN to verify which one you have. Remember that a harness won't include all the switches, relays, etc, so also check to see what you need...

I tried a couple of online salvage yards but be careful-most of the time they are not aware of different model years and they offer no returns.Got screwed a couple of times.

Couldn't help but notice your name on here. I used to have one of those little Hondas 30 years ago. It was a great little scoot.

Unfortunately it is not just melted plugs the wiring harness was actually set on fire (long story). Good call on Oregon motorcycle parts I will defiantly be making use of them. I am still riding a cm400 that bike is indestructible.
