  • cam plug and cct plug change ?

    Ive got new cam plugs and cct plugs...( I think thats what it called...front of motor, behind headers, little cylinder thing sticking out that can be adjusted ) ... both air leaking oil, need to change em, questions to the XS holy men on the proper change procedure....

    Cam plugs ar pretty self explanitory. Replace the valve cover gasket at the same time. I use a little weatherstip adhesive on the round side of the plugs, others may be different.

    I hope you got one of the self adjusting CCTs. You'll wish you had if not.

    Take the left engine cover off and you'll see the pointer and crankshaft timing wheel. On the wheel is a mark with a "C" on it. line those up before removing and replacing the CCT. Put your bike on the center stand or the equivelent when you do it to keep the chain from getting misaligned with the gears.

    Do it just like the manual says to adjust the tensioner.

      +1 on what Ba80 says and do not forget to rotate the motor in the correct way before doing the adjustment. These things run backwards to normal but the timing wheel has a directioanl pointer to help.

        so i should get a self adjusting cct, and a valve cover gasket before attempting this? any special type of cct or gasket?
