Next thing, fix the brakes.
For safety's sake don't eff around with anything else until you can make the bike STOP.
AFTER you can reliably stop that bike you can try a flying clutch pop to break the clutch plates loose but as it's been sat there for at least 4 years, I'm not sanguine about that working.
Sometimes you gotta take the springs off the clutch and peel the plates apart like peeling the layers off an onion.
Bike is running, pull the clutch lever, shift to first and it's fine, give it gas and slowly release clutch lever. bike dosnt move, dosnt move, dosnt move, then makes some bad noise. I pull the lever back and back to square one.. sometimes I can get the bike moving a little but never full clutch lever release and never get that far.
Plan on bleeding back brakes tommow with vacuum, if there's not a pool of brake fluid on the ground anyway. Also adjusting the clutch cable from the forum suggesting and seeing where I stand. I just fear the transmission has deeper issues, as I've heard bad things about them....
Bike sounds good I think anyways. Like I said I've have never heard this bike before yesterday and th PO never heard it at all. I don't even know if the guy befor him ever had it running. The bike was missing some things when I Got it, mainly ignition module but, nothing I don't feel like a PO could have just sold the bike without some parts because it is a hodgepodge of a bike anyways.
Sorry for the novel. Just trying to cover everything. Haha.79 frame, 81ish engine, xs1100

First gear is gone and second is on its way. I guess that's way the bike was parked and partially stripped way back when. Fun, fun..
Plan to fix in a week or so.
I will start a new thread and keep you guys posted on progress.
Ultimately the plan is to turn this to a very aggressive schemed bobber, tastefully though.
Again, I can't say thanks enough for the vast amount of information on this forum!!79 frame, 81ish engine, xs1100
