Would it be possible to drill, tap and thread 2 or 4 zerks, placed for balance, in an OEM u-joint, and would they clear the boot?
The joint is solid. Greaseable joints are hollow. you would have to put a zerk in each bearing cap. @ that point it would be easier to just pull it apart, clean, grease and re-install

..........and I are one of those, but this is a test(continued from the 3-Phase final drive thread), since mines NEVER been off, and with 80K thought it make for a good test to see if over the years giving that zerk a good 30 pumps(1oz.) every couple oil changes with Super-Sta red is allowing any of that seperated lube from it's suspension product to weep into those splines. Goin' to be removing it when I do a tire change this spring, and CZ is going to ride 'over the hill' to witness the removal. Who knows, could be just bonded powder for splines, but again, with the miles and years, may fool all of us. CZ has a theory as to Yammies thinking when they incorporated that zerk location, so I think the curiosity to see if that theory pans out or not is what is worth the 280mile ride over here........may just be in the market for an already anodized black OEM final drive and driveline....
