    You're welcome

    Hi Folks

Great that you posted re receiving the bearings. Royal Mail, eh? Can't beat it.... it was, in fact, the world's first postal service and it's still going.

I still have bearings left over, so if anyone needs/wants any, please let me know. There's about 20 left now, so get one while you can.

Thanks to all for the feedback

        Thanks

Got mine today. Going in the toolbox to stand by for future need. Makes me feel much more comfortable now that I have a spare unobtainium bearing.

Absolutely! That's what made me decide to resolve this danged thing once and for all. On a routine inspection, I took my rear wheel off and found the bearing, covered in what looked like candle wax.... dried up, old grease. Once I cleaned the bearing in white spirit, it sounded like a rattle and was quite obviously worn. Then it occurred to me that, if it really got bad, my bike would be off the road.

So, I slipped into a phone box down the road and donned my Captain Unobtanium superhero outfit, complete with cape, and fought the good fight against the evil power of the Fiend of Obsolescence, thus single-handedly saving the entire XS1100 world from knackered bearings.

Well James, since you're so good at this, perhaps you should carry your super hero status a bit further. You should consider becoming the Mike's XS of the XS1100. Now THAT would be true hero status! England's XS

Just the same, thanks for the bearing.

Yeah! Nice idea..I'll have to come up with a British superhero outfit.... it'll probably involve a bowler hat, umbrella and cup of tea somehow..... not stereotyping or anything....

My two made it through yesterday. One to use when I tear the back end apart, and one to keep --just in case.--

James, you're ok in my book. I don't care WHAT the rest of the Brits say about you. If I'm ever on your side of the pond again I'll take you out for fish & chips. :-P
My Special is as old as I am.

Oops! I wasn't aware the other Brits were saying anything about me!

I did make it clear to my compatriots that they are welcome to buy bearings from me... indeed one most vociferous critic actually bought one from me.

The fish and chips sounds good to me.....
