  • Exhaust

been looking at exhaust, and since I cant find a replacement header for my crappy 4-1, i may have to buy a new exhaust....
I really am digging this, i love the way the pipes come out...emailed him and for the same price he can do a black ceramic coating....

    http://www.x-pipe.com/motorcycle.html

my question is, does anybody have any experience with it or the company, and how does it sound? My kerker has no baffle and is loud as hell, which I love...

    any other exhaust ideas?

It is sort of one of those "to rich for my blood" systems. There are a couple who have it and it is a quality system. There are some old pics of that system of some guy popping a wild wheely with the x-pipe showing underneath.

For $700 you had better love it a LOT! Also it looks like one of those that needs to be removed every time you change the oil filter.

Mac has decent systems either 4 into 1 or 4 into 2 for half that price

I would say no Tod because it's all one solid welded piece it looks like. Which would be another drawback because if you bend one piece you'll have to replace the whole thing.

It looks lik it is probably on the very loud side. One thing I like about the stock exhaust is that it allows me to hear the engine. I had an MIVV on my FZ1 and I thought that was on the raspy side but it probably wouldn't be anywhere near as loud as this set of tubes.

Loud or quiet all depends on the mufflers, which NOBODY can look at from the outside and judge. What kind of baffles or packing that's inside of them (Or absent) is what counts, unless it's something someone has personal experience with. It's like looking at Harley's V-rod. Looks like it's going to be loud... but is probably one of the quietest running bikes I've been next to other than a Goldwing. With the current limits on exhaust noises and such in many states, new mufflers leaving the factory have to be pretty restrictive. What you do afterwards to them...???

                  Looks like

The centerstand had to be removed, and the whole system would have to be dropped to do an oil change.

Just FYI for this thread. I emailed a while back and was told that if I want (ie had the bucks) they would sell me the MX3 system (the pretty one with the mufflers) for the XS. It looks awesome, but bet you'd be in for a grand on those.

                        Hey Wolf,

Can you post some photos of your current pipes, and what is wrong with them, the header?? I'm expecting my 3-1 Tig/Stick/Plasma machine any day now, and I've already recieved a bunch of the 1.5"and 1.75" straight pipe and 90 degree mandel bent elbows to PLAY WITH!!! Are your current pipes chromed?? Is your header needing a patch or what?? We might be able to do something together?

                          x-pipe

I have a x-pipe mx-3 on my xs project. It's single wall and comes in 7 pieces.Does reguire relocating side stand and I believe removal for oil fillter change. He said I'd be able to keep the side stand with the mx-3 but that was not the case. It's a very small pipe and looks to be very loud.Theres a pic of my bike with this pipe under one of my posts.
