    do i have to filter the tube at all?
    1979 xs special, just finished the top end rebuild and then i still have lots of work.
    progress thus far...

      You should not have to filter the crancase breather hose since the flow is most always out due to normal blowby but it is better that you do. The two lines that are the carb bowl vents ought to be filtered since they normally reside in the filtered part of the airbox. Small fuel filters work well here.

      Here is a view of my old setup before I switched carbs.



      And here is how I have my breather filtered.
