I was wondering if there is a way to lower the seating position vs the height of the handlebars. Is it possible to raise the front and lower the back? just wondering some input. I've seen many lowering threads, and getting new shocks is something I would do far into the future, but was just wondering some input

Easiest way would be to have the foam in the seat redone. you could have some foam removed from the front part and some extra padding added into the back area or have a whole new foam seat sculpted.Nathan

You generally don't want to raise the front and lower the back at the same time, as that will almost for sure adversely affect handling. As a matter of fact if you lower the back, you will want to lower the front the same amount to retain handling in most cases, so the easiest way to lower the seating is to shave the seat, especially if you only need to get about 1 to 2 inches. Mine has a custom seat and sits from what I can see almost 3 inches lower than stock, without any lowering of the bike.
Two other ways of lowering the seating position have to do with the rear tire, which will change handling a little, but will at least not make the suspension prone to bottoming out like changing shocks will. You can change to a 16 inch rear wheel from a special, or you can go with 130/40-17 on the rear which is what was on my bike when I got it, which seems to be about the same as 16 inch as far as height. The 16 inch wheel does require changing the brake brackets on the rear to the matching ones from the special, but gives you a LOT more choice in rear tires, and if you do the 750 FD mod will still end up with almost exactly the same final ratio as stock.Cy

Lowering your seat is probably your best bet as most times when you adjust suspension or go smaller tire, it snoballs into side and center stand clearance along with possible exhaust clearance while turning. YMMV1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
