  • Brakes + Caliper updates that really work

    These brake system updates are not for everyone ...
    They offer more braking power than most of us will ever use,
    - however ... for those who need more whoa besides the go.

    RocCity is building an XS Manx;

    Tokico Caliper w/ Ducati 320mm disc on XS rim, fits either XS/XJ fork leg.
    Psst! Ducati rotors are a direct bolt-on to XS hubs.

    Dan at Pandemonium sells an adapter kit for XS bikes; uses Brembo Gold Series Caliper working on the oem XS 10.5" Discs.
    This keeps the cost down, yet it's effective & lightweight.

    Hi Rob,
    nice fix. Better to have more brake than you'll use rather than to have less brake than you need.
    BTW, is there a fix for us Special owners and our Weird Harold swivel brakes?

      Now that you mention it.....

      Fred,

      That's one of the other projects I have on the back burner of my mind, since I've got a special, and feel that we should be able to do a similar style/type conversion and get rid of the wierd harold slanted pads at the same time!!!

        Nice swap, but not exactly lo-buck; priced Ducati rotors lately? And the calipers aren't all that cheap either....

          There used to be a site you could go to and buy all that stuff in a kit. You can read about it here: XS650 Garage

          Apparently "Fish Head Big Brakes" is no longer.

          The later XS650 has virtually the same brakes as the XS1100 standard.
