No, read what he said in post 12, he said 4.2 and 4.4 quarts, that's NOT 3.7, which is not QUITE 4. It's CLOSE, but it's still less than 4, and indeed significantly less than he stated since he gave a specific amount including decimal amount. Had he just stated 4 quarts I would have given him the 3.7, but for the numbers he is giving it would HAVE to be WITH the oil cooler, but it's not in the manual I have (which is the H/SH manual as well and doesn't differ between the two on capacity). As he pointed specifically to that post, that's the number he is stating, which does not match the manual, and if it did would only apply to the Venturer with it's oil cooler.

So it would be correct to say it's ALMOST 4 quarts, but 3 in and 3 out is NOT a quart low, especially since castrol 4T comes in 1 liter bottles which is 3.2 quarts anyways.

Personally I like Golden Spectro but I use 20w50 U.GS42050 and 4 liters are put in a nice box they call it a case imagine that . Most dealers sell it it, it's partial synthetic and works very well with wet clutch or did till I rebuilt my engine. I may need new clutch springs now if I'm gona push it. It might also be the castrol 20w 50 I put in threw the break in phase.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

          my 2 cents

i always used Golden Spectro semi synth in both my bikes, but my last 81 Special change, i used Mobil 1 20/50 full synth formulated for air cooled engines. i never had a clunking/shifting issue, but i did notice a smoother shift.
my last oil change on my water cooled CBR1000F, i used Amsoil 10/40 full synth, and really noticed the smoothness. very satisfied with both oils
