  • Another fork seal question

I am on the hunt for some fork seals for my sf, and was wondering where other people have been buying them. I have been told by bearing supply houses that the 37x48x10 is an oddball size and i have read on here that there were easily sourced.

Here are the ones I purchased. Long time supplier of XS11 parts, great guy to deal with.

This is where my problems really starts as I don't have an ebay account or even a credit card so those choices are out.

No credit card....hmmm.....well now. That is a horse of a different color. No ebay or mail order then. I would say you need to go to your dealership and see if they have them, or will order. But you would have to pay them ahead for them to order.

Other option, take your cash to a friend who has a credit card, pay them up front and have them order for you.

Have most of you guys bought your new seals online or have you been able to source them locally?

My local dealer can get them, but I suspect he's buying from the online sellers too, so I go direct and avoid the mark-up...

You can go to your local bike shop and they should be able to order them for you. PartsUnlimited has them. Correct size for a Special is 37X48X10.5
                  2H7 (79)
                  3H3

Phil, George list the Special seals as 39X48X10.5mm, what he sent fit nicely into my forks.

I thought TDriver didn't want to do a computer transaction and wanted a local store. Yep, I've used the Georgefix ones (K&L) they seem Ok. I didn't mean PartsNmore.net, bike shop should be able to order K&L's too.

Your right on the computer transaction, I was wondering about the seal size. You stated 37 mm, and George shows 39 mm.

TRdriver, the last number in 37X48X10.5 is height in mm, 6 is too small, you need 10.5. Don, 39mm is wrong, our forks are 37mm stanchion.

Thanks Phil, it appears he only list them incorrectly. Went to the garage and checked the package of the one I just changed out, what he shipped me and I installed are 37X48X10.5
