• XS1100F Seat??

I recently purchased an XS1100F, and this is the seat that was on it. To me it does not resemble any stock seat that I know of. There are no labels on the pan, but it does look like a stock 1100 pan. The cover is worn and cracked, and this is a very comfy seat, much better than my 1100FS seat. I would like to find a new cover or the whole kit with the foam, if it is not a stock seat. Can any one help me out? (Please don't ask which way I came in) I also have a lot of 1100 GS parts, in rough but serviceable condition. rovjer@tds.net

Scoobes, I tried to download pics of the seat, guess it did not work. I noticed that on the forum rules I may not post attachments. Can you tell me why that is? I am new here. I will try to put the pics on here. This is the same I got last time.

            pictures

Use the search tab at the top of the page and do a search for "post pictures". The keys to the mystery is there.

It is mounted on a pan that looks like the original. with the hook in front and the bolts on each side. The tail piece screws to the rear just like the original, so this must be an aftermarket kit. I have looked at all of the known seats on all models of 1100's, and there is nothing like it anywhere. It is not the regular double bucket kit, I had one of them on my 11 SF, and I hated it. I have a recovered 11 LH (mid spec) on my FS now. I just bought the standard off ebay a few weeks ago for $515. It is in pretty nice shape, windjammer IV w/lowers, case guards, Samsonite luggage, 57 K miles. Runs good. The seat cover is cracked from age, so I may find a hard time locating anything for it. Know anyone needing parts from an LH? I have an organ donor. Rover

That seat looks like a Bill Mayer or a Day-Long Touring Saddle. Both are popular with the long distance riders. Check out their web pages, maybe send some pic's to see if they can ID it and repair it.

My corbin seat looks similar to that, it was made within the first couple of years the xs-11 was introduced. Later 'Dog

                            XS1100F SEAT??

Hey guys, thanx for the info. I will look at the pages you suggest. My other option is to make a new cover, the foam is in good shape, just the cover shows it's age. I am not much at sewing, and the SWMBO is in the Philippines, so no help there. I have managed to do most of the things I had to do, so I should give this a shot, the cover is complete, but brittle. Thanx again

                              Seat

I have seen seat cover kits on JC whitney in the $100.00 range, the configuration is different but caption says it will fit the pan, includes foam. They also advertise full seat replacement with pan, something in the $250.00 range. Check 'em out, some people consider JC Whitney "cheap" however I have used their products for years with no problems. HTH
