            Repairing leaking fuel T's:

First, seperate the outer carb to access the fuel T. You will need to remove the large phillips screws from the L brackets that holds the carb bank together. The choke rod will need to be removed also, don't lose the small ball bearings located in carbs 1 and 4. Remove the fuel T.

Cut the rubber off the 2 outlet ends with a razor blade or knife. Be careful, this is a delecate and awkward process. The old rubber is bonded to the metal.

Once the rubber is mostly removed, use some medium sandpaper, 220 or 320 to remove any remaining rubber and scratches.

You will need at least 6 nitrile O-rings per fuel T, I used the kit from Harbor Freight shown below.

Stack the O-rings on the bare metal of the T, the number you use depends on how much of the original rubber was trimmed off. Use some motor oil on them before reinstalling the T's into the carbs.

It may be necessary to rotate the T and/or use a small dull screwdriver or similar to tuck the O rings into their carb inlet. It is also a good idea to clean any left over crud out of the carb inlet with rolled up sandpaper before installing the T's. When installing the outer carb back onto the bank, make sure the throttle linkage/sync adjustment is properly aligned. You can look at one of the other carbs on the bank for reference.

Yet some more tech tips moved to the tech forums; a lo-buck engine stand, fork rebuild pictorial, and replacing XJ shock boots.

Coming soon (when I can get them finished!), a fork/brake interchange guide and a turn signal troubleshooting/repair guide.

Do we have a place on the site that shows all those wonderful color wiring diagrams that members have contributed over the years? I find them much easier to use and right now am searching for a 81MNS diagram. Even just posting the originals may help some members. Hopefully one of the manuals I have will cover the 81 MNS but thought what the hey I am on here so see if it shows. Do you have any idea how many threads show up in different searches and how many have no bearing on what I am looking for. Anyway just thinking out loud.

I would think the LH would be the same as the SH. The Clymers has pretty good diagrams.

I've added some more 'new' tips to various tech forums for your enjoyment...

Thanks to Mack (upper motor mounts, video of the cases), DGXSER (ignition switch rebuild), Cobia (squeaky brakes).

I also got Cy Welch's two-prong flasher mod posted. I had to do some editing and clarifying, and it still needs a bit more to be 'perfect' but my computer is screwing up so I'll leave that for another time. Cy was going to do this, but his accident and unfortunate passing came before he could do this. So thanks to Cy, and I miss you.....
