  • Vetter mounts...

    I'm seeking a mounting bracket for my 79 XS1100S. I have a line one one from a 1980 xs1100.

Can I expect it to fit? I understand that the 78s and 79s are very similar, but not sure on the 80s.

Same fairing...a Windjammer IV, though I also understand that the I-IVs use the same mounting pattern.

    Thanks!

The fairing mounting points on the frame are the same for all years XSs, so your '80 unit will work...

I found it critical to use thick rubber isolators between the bracket and the faring. Even though the faring plastic looks tough, it can fracture at the base due to vibration and uneven pressure. You may need different thicknesses of rubber because of the fit with the bracket. Also, you won't want to over-torque the bolts. I use locknuts because of this.

And rubber insulator washers on the top.
