  • will 80 special forks work on a 79 special

    can any body tell me if the forks off an 80 special ,will work on a 79 special ?
    the might be from a standerd also but dont know will the standerd forks work on the special? just asking both questions to cover all the bases . thanks for your interest!!

    All special forks will interchange with the single exception of the '81 MNS forks which use different brakes. You don't want to mix parts between standard and special forks as that will have detrimental effects on your handling. You can swap complete fork assemblies (standard to special or the other way), but you'll need everything except the front wheel as no other parts interchange. This means you'll need the forks, triple trees, fender, speedo drive/cable, and brakes. The gauges will fit either top tree, but mods will be needed to use either type headlight on the other type trees.
