  • Rear Brake Pedal Spring?

Today I had to take apart a few things and when i removed the brake pedal the pedal rod fell out. When I looked at the ground I noticed a spring. I didnt see where it fell off at and tried to look it up in manual and didnt have any luck. Any idea how this goes in? Also im looking for a new brake pedal if anybody has one for sale please let me know. Thanks

Which spring? There's two, one on the pedal shaft and one on the brake light switch...

Its the big spring. Coiled around three times and one end longer than the other. Gos on the brake petal shaft. I just don't know how it fits in there. Sorry that the best I can describe it.

The 'hook' end goes on the pedal lever towards the rear of the bike, the 'straight' end fits into a recess on the aluminum bracket.

Here's a pic. This is the only way mine will work.

1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
              1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
              1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
              1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
              1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

... the last time it was on the road was in 2001 and it's been a slow Labour of Love bringing her back to former beauty. I hope to get some dirt on her this Spring.
