It would be easy to fab up something to come off the existing bar with the reflectors on either side of the stock tail light for the R1 signals. need to mod em up and see what it looks like. may look out of place on a 33 year old bike... just would have to make sure they are seen down there... I know they're bright as hell!

Thanks for all the Input guys... very helpful

Ya I know it all seems silly.. my Dad road this bike around for years the way it is... but with everyone texting and emailing while driving and the fact traffic has about doubled around here since his day, I'd like to not get runned into Little extra "can you see me" on a bike I can't replace is needed

          Hi Dragon,
go for #1 but swap out those red turn signals on the top bag for the big red tombstone rear lights from a 1980 Special. Rig the stop/signal effect with a 6way to 4way trailer adapter (~$20 from NAPA).
BTW, where did you source those side-mount amber signal lights? They look the same as the signals on my sidecar which I'd like to replace with ones that are in better shape.

Using amber for the turn signals is always best just due to the contrast. If I ever get around to getting some hard bags mounted I plan to use those scrolling arrow led turn signals. No question about intent there.

I've used this company for two of my bikes when I converted to LED style run/brake/turn lights in back. They work great and are really bright. You can get them in practically any configuration and are easy to bend to any contour.

Emgo part number 61-81901. I honestly couldn't tell you where they came from. I think they came with my 2bros hi mount for my R1. Would assume you can get them off the interweb

I was on that website last night looking @ the nightrider stuff.
I didn't get to the true flex stuff. As my trunk is not flat across the back the flexy strip would be easier I think

                    The 'OEM' accessory light bar...

Attaches to the license plate bracket. They do come up on Ebay once in a while.

Those look nice. As long as they clear my samsonite hard bags on the side. Anyone got an idea of the overall length of them bars?

                          Truck stops

As a former interstate trucker, I always think that a lot of bikers are missing a great source of accesorry lighting by not visiting large truck stops. The larger the better. I'm thinking "worlds largest truck stop " in Iowa, (they even have a large catalog of their own & I imagine, a website). But even local, large, ones carry a huge variety of LED accessory lights. You might have noticed ,truckers love lights. They're all different shapes & sizes. Used em on a trunk one time & worked out great. They're really easy to install in fiberglass panels.
                          Check em out.

PS I have 1 of those factory turn signal bars. I'll measure it today & post here. By the way, it's 4 sale.

Just remember to pay it forward yourself.

My vote is for the LED strip on tail trunk for added brake lite ONLY. My Givi trunk on my ST has the added LED brake lite which is recessed flush and uses 4LED. That lite being up high has on several occassions diverted what may have otherwise been a hit from the rear. Seperating a LED strip so it's not on the same plane as the tails mounting up higher on trunk again gets my vote.
