From Crazy Steve PM to me:
"Try being polite and you won't have a problem with deleted posts. If you want to disagree with someone, that's fine. But show some respect AND back it up with facts, not a 'you look it up' comment. You're the one making the contrary statement, the burden is on you to prove it. A lot of members are losing patience with you, if you want to continue to post here I strongly suggest you think more before you post"
Please let me know if I am a bad man. If so, I am gone

Hi OEM,
I wonder how many are in Steve's "many"? As a %age of total list membership, I betcha it was very few and certainly I was not one of them.
And anyway, he didn't ask you to quit posting, just to stop bruising the tender egos of the supersensitive amongst us.Last edited by fredintoon; 01-23-2012, 09:38 AM.Fred Hill, S'toon

Every brand specific forum that I belong to has issues such as this. Whenever there is a wealth of knowledge like this site has, there will be many opinions concerning the bikes. What works for one may not work for another, but common courtesy and respect works for everyone.
Another site I belong to was started by a business as a customer base and even talking about another type of bike will get you deleted....I stay there only for information and parts.
Enthusiasim about your bike certainly isn't a crime, but I would encourage everyone to show proper respect to everyone.
XS11 has proven to me to have a wealth of useful knowledge and has helped me to understand my Yamaha.

Well, personally, I can say that I am one of the people who have objected to some of these posts and I certainly wouldn't describe myself as super-sensitive, with a tender ego that's prone to bruising.
I am a UK member of this USA forum because, so far, it is a respectful site with informed members who do not swear, blaspheme, use foul language (even with *'s instead of letters) or post vulgar responses, as is the case with some other sites about these bikes. However, yet again with XS1100OEM4ME, we've reached the stage of apologies and, for the second time I'm aware of, a 'last post', which was preceded by, yet again, more vulgar posts, videos that need to be removed and confrontational posts/responses. It would appear that, for some people, life is a permanent state of confrontation, confession, apology and general fuss and palaver. I find it really weird and offputting and I really don't want to go there on this yet again.
History repeats itself again with more weird posts, deleted comments, deleted (presumably obscene) videos. Then apologies and the implication that other people are somehow at fault because they do not share an infantile obsession with obscenity and fall out with everyone all the time.
I'm pleased that Steve said what he did and am surprised that it's taken so long, and so often, to reach this point. Well done. About time. My advice here is 1. stop using obscenity 2. stop posting vulgar, infantile and unamusing videos 3. stop trying to supposedly make people laugh 4. stop using the forum to parade what look to me like personality issues. If you can't do that, then yes, please do make that the last post. My kids love motorbikes and I've had to stop them using this forum because of the drivel put here by you.... and yes, like you said weeks ago, kids hear that stuff in Miami (or some such comment). I don't care... just don't want them, or me, reading/seeing it here too.

Some folks on here have tender feelings. I haven't taken issue with what you post but it seems at times a minority rule."If A equals success, then the formula is: A = X + Y + Z. X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut." - Albert Einstein

OEM, you can deal with it if you want to. There is a solution you know, just pull some people into a social site to chat up a storm and say whatever you want to. Being a moderator is an important function to keep this site together for the purpose it was meant for. Just my 2cents...Skids (Sid Hansen)

I'm pretty new to this site so my opinion may not matter to anyone. I've never personally had any problems with OEM... He's been very helpful to me. I have belonged to other motorcycle forums and can't stand posting on them. Step into the R1 forum for a few minutes and you'll wanna throw your keyboard thru your monitor. I guess humor can be read into differently when delivered via typing.Don
