The buckhorns don't slow me down a bit. It's a simple matter of ergonomics. Love them, hate them, in the end it doesn't make much difference.

[QUOTE=ddragon63;352799]I rotated mine down a little from stock. just sat on the bike and moved em to where I like em... opinions may vary [QUOTE]

They are a bit more comfortable that way but if your not careful you will smack the tank with the grips and give it a custom dimple. I have mine set just high enough so that can't happen.

...at the differences in the stock '80G bars and a late '70s GL1000.
The GL1000 bars (why is bars plural ) are approximately 1 1/2" higher and swept back a little more than the '80G bars, also the GL1000 bars have the weighted ends to help with the resonance from the Eleven. I am using the GL1000 bars on my '80G as the reach, for me, will be better

        GL1000 on bottom , '80g on top

GL1000 on top of the '80G

        GL1000 on top , '80G on bottom

        GL1000 are the higher bars

These bars look like they might be perfect to solve some of the issues I have been having with my special bars. I just ordered a set, so we shall see how it goes!

Marty & me been having this buckhorns discussion over some years and two forums.
Marty loves them and I reckon they make a good windchime.
Bars is like shoes:- they gotta fit or you can't wear them.

                  inch & 7/8th

Ebay is loaded with a variety of bars. Just make sure you get 1&7/8th in diameter & enought room to mount to triple tree & the variety is endless.
                  Just sayin
