    Anyone have some comparison pics of the handlebars from a special versus a standard. Mines a 79SF, but not sure the bars are original.

      The second one marked as a special says in the ad it came from a 2H7, that would be standard wouldn't it?
      But comparing several pics from ebay, I'm assuming the special bars have more of a buckhorn shape compared to the standard...is this right?
      I'll take pics of mine, but believe they are from a standard, which are more comfortable for cruising??

        Hmmmmm......I didn't notice what it said. It doesn't matter though, those are the signature "Buckhorn" bars of a special. Someone must have put those on a standard.

        You see the difference.

        A lot of people prefer the flatter standard bars but personally I like the buckhorns so I can lean back and sit up straight. The angle of the grips is different but you get used to it.

        Which do you have?

          I'm thinking I have the standards, will look at them again in the morning, and take some pics, might be replacing them with the specials, if a lot of people prefer the standards, might not be hard to trade....

            They are cheap enough on flea bay that you could get a set and keep your others in case you want to change back. Just sayin'.

            I put a set from a Honda CB750 on my project bike. They don't seem to sit so low and have about the same angle on the grips. Haven't gotten to try them in the real world yet. We'll see.

                +1 for buck horns...

                The thing I like about them is I can pretty much tuck my elbows into my chest, sit back in the seat, put my feet on the hwy pegs, and just cruise

                  This is a pure stock Special (79SF) handlebar, you can see the rise pretty clearly from this angle

                    This topic usually stirs a lot of opinions.

                    Many in favor of standard bars. I've got both & still can't decide which I like best.

                      Many peolpe have traded the Special bars for lower bars as they claim better controll in th twistys, or comfort for their wrists. The Special were more of a look that went with the bike thing, than a handleing thing. I love em, they fit my wrists fine and never had a problem in the corners, but that is just me

                        I rotated mine down a little from stock. just sat on the bike and moved em to where I like em... opinions may vary

                          Yeah, looking at everyone's special bars, I definitely have the standard's. I'm not worried about racing in and out of the twisty's and really just want comfort, bad wrist to begin with, so I may have to go through quite a few bars to find the ones that are comfortable, but I think the special's OEM's are the place to start.

                            Here are my custom bent CB750 bars, they were mini buckhorns, now more of a dirt bike style.

                            2H7 (79) owned since '89
                            3H3 owned since '06
