Anyone out there with an LH. Why did they attach the handrail with with those great huge metal bolt sleeves sticking out. Is there a use for these or is this a PO addition. IMHO these look like s..t.

There should only be "acorn nuts" or bolt heads on the grab rail. Anything else has been "PO'ed"
This is going from my "LG", and the factory manual I have that came with it.

Are you talking about hex-shaped sleeves about an inch long sticking out from the sides? On my SF those are the rearward attaching points for the trunk rack. Maybe there was a rack on the bike at one time and somebody pulled it and put the grabrail back on?

LH nd SH should be identical other than colors in that area. The seat rail/ grab bar attaches where the shock mount bolts are with acorn nuts, then two bolt heads where they attach to the frame.

        See this pic.

          I guess

they must be for a luggage rack. I'm taking them off and will replace with something more aesthetically pleasing, I have to order the rear peg bolts as well. Can't find them. Out of all the things to lose. Although considering I tore this apart last October and it has sat scattered in a thosand pieces all over the shop for 14 months, I'm getting off lucky to be missing only two bolts with washers and nuts. I know though as soon as I stop looking for them, they'll turn up.

Mack, if you are asking about the extensions on the shock/grab rail mounting points I have the same things on one of my SG's and I think they were added on as an option for mounting an optional luggage rack/bag system. A few months ago I saw someone was selling a set of these on Ebay, prior to seeing the listing I was like you and had no idea why they were there.

              Yep

as soon as I stopped looking for the missing bolts, I found them under the set of carbs I'm wating to put the needle jet in. Go figure.

                  I'd really like to

but I have a house full of sick kids and the wifes not quite over it yet. Neither am I for that matter but the anti biotics are starting to kick in. Hell it's still a few days away, I really want to look over leather riding suits and try some on. You've obviously gone before. Will they have kiosks set up for leathers?

                      Hi Mack,
The Supershow is an excellent place to buy leathers/ riding suits and Helmets at deeply discounted prices. A number of stores set up huge racks of product at clearance prices. Major brands too just last years styles and colours
though black never goes out of style and if the jacket fits wear it

Shopping with the XSives is always fun.... Does my ass look fat in these pants?
Will be answered with a resounding YES

Would be good to see you

                          Bike Show

I'm going to try to make it before noon on Saturday. That way I can get my look/see in and be back before supper to tend to the family. It's a fair haul for me from here so I'll have close to six hours on the road for that day. Hope my back will take it, but I really want to go.

                            Hi Mack,
You should be able to shave most of an hour out of your travel time
I suggest you try to arrive earlier say 11:00. Then you should still find parking close to the building and short lineup at the ticket booth. It is a popular time so expect plenty of people. Perhaps you could join us for the "lunch" stop before rushing back to Frankford. Give us a call when in town.

                              Guess what

my wife and #2 daughter say they want to come with me. After I picked myself up off the floor, I got thinking about it. I believe that they just want to make sure I don't come home with a new ride. However, it will be fun to have them with me. if I can find something that fits her bottom, maybe she will let me bring home something shiney.
