I did verify the passages between the main and secondary tubes were clean by spraying carb cleaner down the main and watching it spray into the secondary tubes. As for making sure the seal from the boots to the cylinder heads is good, I used Permatex Copper gasket maker to seal it up. PO had used Permatex Hi-Temp Red before.
