Nothing beats a top trunk for hauling watermellon.[/QUOTE]

On second thought, I believe Fredintoon could cary a watermellon and a bunch of pumpkins in his side car rig...AND they would be camophalouged, blending in as to be inconspicous

PS chrome rails look good too.

      Thanks again folks...

The PJ-1 is like nothing I have painted with before. I plan on doing my engine with this stuff. James England posted about it and he is right...

It kind of bonds with the plastic and does not form a film like enamel would. I did not believe it until I tried it...

        Good job!

Great Job, I just started thinking about getting a vetter set up since I had a goldwing for a while. You have the hot set up for sure, I have something to shoot for.

That top trunk will carry a 30 lb turkey and all the trimmings in a pinch. But I wouldn't try it unless you have some sort of a brace helping support things. The trunk itself will handle the load, but the back part of the frame can get overstressed by it (not in a single time but over time that unsupported part of the frame has broken off on several persons bikes) and crack there. The other problem is with that amount of weight there the bike gets REALLY unstable DAMHIK.

Sailboy98: The fairing kit I have is for a goldwing (maybe). The fairing fit on the vetter mount that was already on the XS11. I have the brand new mount that probably fits a wing... not sure. PM me and we can measure. Yours for shipping if it fits.

Cy: There is a warning label inside the lid on the trunk - 20lbs max. Not only that, I'm not sure about the 30 year old rubber mounts that mount the trunk to the luggage rack. Not only the weight affects handling but the West Texas wind wants to make you change lanes when you don't want to!

That's why I put new rubber mounts on mine, the originals were rather should I say, worn out? I got them from granger supply for less than half the price that Vetter wants for them, and stepped up a size to more sheer strength and such. But frankly, if you put much more than the recommended weight in there, the bike get rather unstable. I've dealt with the winds, both with and without the fairing and bags etc, and frankly, I find the full dress bike at speed to actually be affected LESS than when it's naked. I will agree though, that the trunk does add to the wind profile, as with it off the wind has less affect, but not by much when at speed, it's mostly at lights it's a problem, which is also when weight is the biggest problem.

Maybe I should stop carrying a passenger....

The seat is on the supported part of the frame. But the part of the frame where the luggage racks bolt to just hangs out there, and it tends to crack. Once it does you can put a solid rod inside it before welding it back on which is supposed to pretty much fix it for good at the expense of a little more weight. At least that's what I've heard.
