Is there a schematic somewhere that shows the exploded view of the front MC? The rebuild kit did not have a nylon washer like the one that came out when I disassembled it so I put it back together without the nylon washer....... Everything seems OK, but now I'm having second thoughts.
The separate retainer ring that holds the plunger cover in place is molded into the one in the rebuild kit so more parts come out than go back in. Took me a while to figure out that the snap ring was behind the retainer ring for the cover. That crazy snap ring was a real bear to get out and the new one will be just about impossible, so I'm hoping the nylon washer isn't critical.
BTW, once every 25 years is probably a little too long to go between MC and caliper rebuilds. It's a miracle the brakes worked with all the grunge in there. I had to use a dental pick to scrape the hardened stuff out of the whole system.
