  • Throttle cable problem

I replaced the throttle cable on my 1978 XS1100 "boy that was a difficult" and now there is no play in the line. The throttle will not move. It is as if it was jammed. Did I miss something in the install ?

Is it going the "exact" same path as the old one. If is kinked at all anywhere it will stick, Was it moveing freely before the install, check the conection on the carbs, if that got bent on install, it could be jamming, also if the cable slid off track at the handlebar grip, it will jam

It was doing the same thing with the original cable. I replaced it and still no love. As far as I can tell the handle is as it should be.

Do the carbs move free, did the orginal cable work fine then just freeze, if so, what were you and the bike doing when it happened?

Unhook it from the carbs, check to make sure the carbs move free, if so, twist the handle grip, if it still doesn't move, open the handle grip and try to move it by hand. If it wont move from either end, it is crimped and will need rerouted or replaced if you bent it putting it on
