Tube/Tubeless

2fast, the nice thing about tubeless is if you get a flat on the road you can simply plug it, blow it up with and aerosol bomb and keep going. With a tube you are down for a long time and either have to truck the bike to a shop or leave it on the highway while you get the tire repaired.
I'm still running tube type but expect on the next tire replacement I'm going to switch over to tubeless.

rim difference

I was told this by an oldtime mechanic and it makes sense. If the rim is a spoke rim, always run a tube and don't forget your large rubber band. If the rim is not spoke then the rim takes a tubless tire. The tubless tire rim can run both, tube AND tubless tires. If there are rim locks or holes for rim locks, and you want to run tubless tires, then make sure that the holes are pluged with rubber and flat washers. Tighten them to were the flat washer is squashed against the rim so it won't leak, not to XSivlly. You want to make sure that it doesn't leak cauz if it does, ya gotta tear it down agian and make it not leak.Hope this helps. Also. He told me that Any susained high speed driving ( over 120 ) you want to run a tubless type tire cauz the tube in the tube type will caus the tire to get XSivlly hot and will be pron to blowout. Don't know if this is true butt I practice this cauz I don't need a blowout at any speed.

Cause tube type tires are hard to find, cost a lot and don't do such a good job.

I just put a new ft tire on my bike 78E
the dealer says that there is NO difference between tube and tubeless rims ( as far as the bead goes )
so i had him use a tubeless tire with a tube in it

tube tires don't heat up and blow
any more than tubeless, remember before tubeless,
all tires had tubes
just my 2 cents

the reason for the tube in the tubless tire
is that the rim was a tube type, so it could have been porous
or not
but who wants to take the chance and have to pay for a remount and a rebalence
shops love to whack you for labor cost
