  • Best windshield

Hi all I have a 1980 (build in 79) XS1100 SG I think, I am wondering what you all think is the best windshield or one you like the best, ones you all have found that fit or look the best.

    Thanks Jeff

I've had one of THESE on my SG for several years and I like it. And, it was pretty easy to install.

      Jeff,
Welcome to the site. As a fellow Floridian my advise is to have two windshields, one for winter and one for summer. I have a Slipstreamer for winter and a Spitfire for summer.
      This is the Slipstreamer:

Don't have a pic of the Spitfire but it's smaller (19" tall) and attaches to the handle bars. It's readily available for under $120
      1980G Standard, Restored
      Kerker 4 - 1
      850 Rear End Mod
2-21 Flashing LED Arrays on either side of license plate for Brake Light Assist, 1100 Lumen Cree Aux Lights,
      Progressive springs, Showa rear shocks
      Automatic CCT
      1980GH Special, Restored
Stock Exhaust, New Handlebars, 1" Spacer in Fork Springs, Automatic CCT, Showa Rear Shocks
      '82 XJ1100 (Sold)
Automatic CCT, RC Engineering 4 X 1 Exhaust, K&N Pods, #50 Pilot Jets, YICS Eliminator. Sorely missed.

I also use two different models for warm and cold weather, a "Street Shield" much like the one in the first post and a "Plexifairing" like in the second post.

I bought both of them through JC Whintey.

          handle bars

I also have one of those risers set back ETA on my handle bars which seem to leave handle bar windshilds leaning back to clear my gauges

I have a street shield on my 1980 Midnight Special. I like it because it's small, and does not look like an add on. It DOES keep the pressure from the wind off your chest and arms, so longer trips are easy, though!
It IS smaller than the first pic, and fully adjustable so you can lean it at any angle you need.

                Clear

Hey, those clear ones are nice if you like a windshild, they cut the wind and don't take away from the bikes great looks IMO

I actually ordered that particular one because it WAS the tallest one I could find in my price range.

Adjusted so it follows the lines of the front forks, the wind hits my face just above the bridge of my nose. ( I'm 6' )

                      why to funny

I like a windshield really helps in these pop up rains we get in Florida, seems like I have been caught quite often lately.

                        Teeth

Yes, but all those "love bugs" in your teeth is like a free meal, about a quarter pound per 10 miles, don't have to stop for a burger, free protein
