  • last ride and wouldn't ya know it...

so i fire up the bike [1980 special] yesterday for it's last and albeit brief ride of the season, squeeze the front brake and it holds for a second and then goes right to the handle bar. never to return to working again. now....i know i have had this problem before, but i can't remember if it was just the spooge clogged up or if the MC plunger has colapsed. fyi, new brakelines were installed just this year, but the calipers and MC have not been rebuilt for 2 years.
    any input appreciated.
    thanks

    Brakes

If you have full fulid and it held, then droped to the bar, sounds like the plunger, not the spooge. The fluid had to move past the plunger if you had pressuer that colapesed, good luck, been fighting mine myself P.S If you don't mind, when you open up your M/C, let me know if you have two retaining washers (one round, one "U" shaped and a snap ring, mine doesn't have the "U" shaped in the yamaha pic, dont know if it is just a misprint)

The spooge hole being clogged typically causes the brakes to lock into the ON position. Sounds like you lost pressure which would mean the plunger in the MC if you see not visible leaks.
